Rays' third baseman Evan Longoria's return to the field could be delayed as the team approaches his injury with caution, according to St. Petersburg Times. Longoria has yet to swing a regular bat or face live pitching, and Manager Joe Maddon said he isn't sure when he will. The Rays also want him to go two to three days after taking batting practice without discomfort before throwing him back into the lineup. "We're in a holding pattern in regard to that," Maddon said. "He's feeling better. I know the throwing part is coming along really well. I just don't know when he'll be cleared to go."
