Yankees manager Joe Girardi admitted on Sunday that Hideki Matsui is on track to return to the club on Tuesday in their series-opener against the Blue Jays, according to The New York Post.

Matsui was placed on the disabled list on June 27 with inflammation in his left knee.

"It's a possibility," said Girardi of Matsui being activated for Tuesday's game. "So far the knee has been good so he'll be evaluated [Monday] and we'll make a decision."

Matsui will likely DH for the remainder of the season upon his return to the Yankees.
