Oakland third baseman Eric Chavez will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder next week, according to The Contra Costa Times.

Chavez has a torn labrum in the shoulder and has expressed doubt that it can ever be completely repaired.

"They're going to open me up and make a game-time decision on what to do," Chavez said Monday.
