 More Braves NewsAtlanta Braves pitcher Jair Jurrjens has been named the June recipient of the National League Rookie of the Month Award presented by Gillette. In four starts last month, Jurrjens posted a 3-0 record and a 1.63 ERA. Atlanta won all four of the games started by the Curacao native. The 22-year-old did not surrender an earned run in his final three starts in June, spanning 21.2 innings in which he yielded just 14 hits. Overall, the right-hander fanned 18 batters in 27.2 innings, allowing 25 hits, seven walks and just one home run. In 18 starts this year, Jurrjens is 9-4 with a 3.00 ERA, and he has a 12-5 record and a 3.37 ERA in his first 25 Major League starts, which included seven starts with the Detroit Tigers last season. |
