Indians General Manager Mark Shapiro is quick to pour cold water - buckets of it - on simmering talk that the club might be interested in re-acquiring Jim Thome, the former Tribe slugger who's now with the Philadelphia Phillies. "Nothing to it," Shapiro writes in an e-mail. Thome left the Indians for Philadelphia in 2002, signing a six-year, $85 million deal. But the Phillies now want to dump Thome: He's been injury-plagued and has effectively lost his first-base job to young star Ryan Howard.
