Matsui Out Until After All-Star Break

The New York Daily News - Hideki Matsui will not return to the lineup for the Yankees until after the All-Star break as he continues to deal with knee issues, according to The New York Daily News.

He was expected to take batting practice this weekend, but team trainers held him out after he experienced some soreness in his left knee after some physical therapy.

"He's not ready to go," Manager Joe Girardi said. "We'll try to get him out there as soon as we can."

There is a possibility he'll make the All-Star team, which he would like to honor by taking at least one at-bat.

"In the event that I make the All-Star team, I'd like to play if I can," Matsui said through an interpreter. "If I have to rest my knee and that's what the team decides, I would." [READ]
