The Athletics have placed third baseman Eric Chavez on the disabled list with a sore right shoulder, according to The Associated Press.

In a related move, Oakland has promoted infielder Wes Bankston from Triple-A Sacramento.

The trip is the second to the DL for Chavez this season, who didn't make his season debut until late May because of offseason surgery to both his back and shoulder.

Chavez is hitting .247 with two home runs and fourteen RBIs this season.
