| 2nd July, 2008 - 5:47 pm | The Ledger - Tampa Bay third baseman Evan Longoria believes that the Rays are the best team in the AL East, according to The Ledger.
Heading into Wednesday night's action, Tampa Bay held a 2.5 game lead over Boston for first place in the division.
"I don't think anybody here has doubts anymore about how good we are and how good we can be, but we're plugging along in the AL East which is pretty much the premier league as far as pure talent," said the rookie third baseman on Tuesday. "I mean, I don't want to put anyone else down, but it's been that way for a long time."
The Rays also have the best record in all of baseball at 51-32.
"I don't know what the media thinks or ESPN or whatever," Longoria added. "With them maybe it's different, but in here we believe. We've got confidence in each other, and we believe we're going to get it done." [READ] |
