Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim righthander John Lackey and Arizona Diamondbacks hurler Dan Haren have been named the MLB Pitchers of the Month for June. The 29-year-old pitched a total of 38.2 innings, allowing five earned runs on 23 hits with 34 strikeouts and seven walks for the month. Lackey won all five of his starts in June, pitching at least 7.0 innings in each of them. In his last start on June 29th at the Los Angeles Dodgers, he tossed 8.2 scoreless innings, permitting just three hits with two walks and nine strikeouts. The 27-year-old recorded 36 strikeouts in 41.0 innings of work in June, allowing six earned runs on 25 hits with eight walks. The 2007 A.L. All-Star threw at least 7.0 innings in five of six June starts, all quality starts, and has allowed just one run in his last 21.0 innings pitched, including 14.0 scoreless innings over his last two outings. The Pepperdine University product matched up with his former team the Oakland Athletics on June 18th, hurling 7.0 innings, giving up one earned run and striking out eight batters. Haren is now 8-4 with a 2.85 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 17 starts this season.
