Dodgers' righthander Brad Penny is headed back to Los Angeles on Sunday to have an MRI exam on his ailing right shoulder, according to a Yahoo.com report.

Penny endured his seventh consecutive defeat in a loss to the Tigers on Saturday, including losses in his last five decisions, with his shortest outing of the season.
