Johnny Damon played one season in Oakland and believes the philosophies of the club do work.

?The ?Moneyball? stuff, it does work,? Damon said, referring to the Michael Lewis book that chronicled the Athletics? methods. ?These guys go up there and take pitches. I learned how to play winning baseball when I played for the A?s. I had the worst year of my career, but we won 102 games and I bought into that philosophy of taking pitches and wearing pitchers down. And when it was time to bash, we bashed.?
