Chamberlain threw a career-high 35 pitches on Wednesday night and is expected to throw between 45 and 50 pitches after replacing Mike Mussina on Saturday. "There is no calculated situation," Manager Joe Girardi said. "But we plan on using him [today]." If Mussina is rolling, the Yankees might delay the plans to give Joba extended work another day. "You don't want to cut a starter short if he is rolling along," Girardi said. "You watch the game to see if he is still making his pitches. That's how we will judge when it's time to bring someone in." |
