The Arizona Republic - The Diamondbacks have resumed contract talks with ace starter Brandon Webb, according to The Arizona Republic.

As of Thursday the two sides appeared to be closing in on a long-term deal to keep the righty in Arizona.

"Yeah, some progress has been made," Webb said. "We've been talking a little bit more. We've made some headway. We'll see where it goes."

Webb is currently signed through the 2009 season with a team option for 2010.

RealGM Note: Webb is currently the eighth best player in MLB according to the FIC (Field Impact Counter). He also has a Reina Value of +202%, meaning that he 'deserves' to make more than the D-Backs are currently paying him. [READ]
