The Pirates and Rays could be looking to complete a trade involving reliever Evan Meek in the coming days, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
In order for a deal to take place, though, Meek must clear waivers after being designed for assignment on Sunday.
Meek, a Rule 5 claim, could then be offered by Pittsburgh to Tampa Bay for cash or the team could work out a trade with the Rays to keep Meek in their organization.
"Our hope is that we can keep Evan," GM Neal Huntington said on Sunday of the reliever.
