Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz was examined today by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. Smoltz was given an MRI as well as a CT scan that revealed a severely inflamed bicep tendon and inflammation of the rotator cuff in his right shoulder. Dr. Andrews injected Smoltz's shoulder for the inflammation and prescribed rest and rehabilitation until he is pain free. No timeframe was given and Smoltz was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April 28). Pitcher Tom Glavine has been activated from the DL.
