Mets Asked Dating Website To Promote Wright For ASG

A Mets official approached a dating website that pairs older women with younger men, seeking to promote David Wright's All-Star candidacy.

The Mets ultimately backed out of a potential partnership.

Wright was recently named "MLB's Hottest Cub" through a vote of more than 11,000 respondents on the dating website Cougarlife.com.

He currently trails Pablo Sandoval in the voting to start at third base for the National League.

Lee Voices Frustration After Phillies End Slump

Cliff Lee was on the mound Thursday as the Phillies ended a five-game losing streak.

Lee signed with Philadelphia before the 2011 season for less money because he believed they gave him a good shot at winning a World Series. The Phillies are currently 32-35.

"We're the Philadelphia Phillies," Lee said. "We should play better than we have."

Lee has a 2.55 ERA.

"I definitely want to win," he said. "There's no doubt about that."

If the Phillies continue to struggle, Lee was asked whether he's willing to stay and pitch for a losing team.

"I don't have any control over that," Lee said. "I know that I want to win and I'll voice that to whoever. And that's that. I want to win here. That's why I signed here. And that's where my focus is."

David Price Throws Simulated Game

David Price took another step toward rejoining the Rays, throwing a simulated game on Thursday for the first time since being sidelined May 16 because of a strained left triceps.

Price threw 54 pitches over three innings.

The left-hander is expected to start a minor league rehab assignment next week and could return to the majors in late June or early July.

"I felt great," Price said. "I'm kind of getting the results that I'm expecting out there right now. It's definitely good to go out there and feel as good as I am right now. I guess it's a sigh of relief."

Tulowitzki Facing DL With Broken Rib

Troy Tulowitzki injured his ribs trying to stop a single during the eighth inning against the Nationals on Thursday night.

An MRI of Tulowitzki's right side revealed a broken rib, which could sideline the shortstop for four to six weeks.

"I'm just really upset. I worked so hard (to get back)," Tulowitzki said. "I'm in a lot of pain right now; I'm not sure how long (I'll be out).

"It's just an unfortunate thing that happened. I will be back and be even better."

Tulowitzki ranks in the top five in the National League in batting (.347 average), on-base percentage (.413), home runs (16) and RBIs (51) and has been nearly flawless in the field.

Detroit's Hitters To Blame In Extra Innings As Well

There has been a lot of talk about how bad Detroit's bullpen has been this season, but the Tigers haven't excelled at the plate either.

The Tigers have lost four games in which they led in the ninth inning. Detroit is 2-7 in extra-inning games.

The bullpen hasn't been great in extra innings, allowing 11 runs in 21 innings for a 4.71 ERA, but the hitters have been even worse -- they've scored just five runs while hitting .198.
