The St. Louis Cardinals will promote Tyler Lyons to start in Jamie Garcia's place on Wednesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Lyons was a ninth-round draft pick in 2010 out of Oklahoma State. He was 2-1 with a 4.47 ERA in eight starts for Triple-A Memphis.

The Philadelphia Phillies are sending Ryan Howard and Carlos Ruiz for MRIs on Monday.
Ruiz will miss Monday's game at the Miami Marlins after straining his right hamstring Sunday.
Howard didn't play Sunday due to left knee soreness. He will not join the team on the trip to Miami.

Matt Moore directed the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, improving his record to 8-0 on the season.
Moore gave up one run, struck out three and walked one to become the first eight-game winner in the majors.
The 23-year-old is the youngest lefty to start the season 8-0 since Ruth did it in 1917 at age 22.
"Historically speaking, it's been wonderful," Joe Maddon said of Moore's season.

In his ninth start of the season, Brandon McCarthy earned his first win since being struck in the head by a line drive last season.
He guided the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 1-0 win over the Miami Marlins.
McCarthy struck out five and walked two while throwing 68 of 99 pitches for strikes in his third career shutout, first since Sept. 3, 2011.
He was hit in the head by an Erick Aybar line drive on Sept 5. 2012, against the Angels while with Oakland. He suffered a skull fracture and underwent surgery to end his season.
