The Answers
1. How would you rate the team’s offseason thus far?

travis minor: D.

Lane1974: They traded away known quantities like Scott Olsen and Kevin Gregg and Josh Willingham, but the prospects they got back are supposed to be good.

mike_miller: I know standards are low, but it is what it is and Olsen and Mike Jacobs were names, not good names.

2. What move do you wish the team made? (i.e. signing, trade)

travis minor: Anything to upgrade the bullpen.

Lane1974: Money is always an object, so this is a loaded question. I guess improving the depth at catcher and bullpen experience.

mike_miller: Man-Ram and Mr. Barry Bonds. I know most people are worried about the locker room and chemistry, but those guys have done a good amount of winning and are still dangerous players.

3. Who do you feel will have a breakout season?

travis minor: Cameron Maybin.

Lane1974: Josh Johnson, Matt Lindstrom, and Dallas McPherson.

mike_miller: It’s gotta be Maybin. He gave us a peek last year and has looked good in spring training.

4. Who do you see regressing after a strong 2008?

travis minor: Jorge Cantu had a career year, so probably him.

Lane1974: Cantu and catcher John Baker.

mike_miller: Cantu is the easy pick, but looking at his history I’m going with Uggla. As much as I hope I’m wrong, he never was the same after the All-Star Game.

5. What is the best case scenario for the club in 2009?

travis minor: Playoffs.

Lane1974: Wildcard.

mike_miller: Undefeated trip to the World Series.

6. What is the worst case scenario for the club in 2009?

travis minor: Injuries to the starting rotation again.

Lane1974: Team starts out slow, and trades high-paid players like Uggla and Cantu at midseason.

mike_miller: Any other team winning the World Series.
