Game Recap #19. Angels 4, Athletics 3

Another one run game between the Oakland Athletics and Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. Vladimir Guerrero carried the halo’s offense on his back for a 4-3 win against the Athletics.

Kelvim Escobar took the mound for the Angels and picked up his third win of the season, most on the team. He went a strong seven innings giving up just three earned runs on five hits. Escobar had a perfect first three innings. He didn’t have an inning where he just got rocked, only giving up one run as the most in an inning. Francisco Rodriguez closed out the game for another save, his seventh on the season.

Vladimir Guerrero carried the offense with one homerun and three runs batted in. Super Vlad had two hits in four at bats raising his batting average to .347.

Bad News: Maicer Izturis slid into second base on a steal attempt and strained his hamstring. He was placed on the 15-day disable list.

Good News: Angels top prospect, Howie Kendrick, got recalled from Triple A Salt Lake to replace the injured Izturis. Howie Kendrick should see some time at DH and possibly second base.

Player of the game: Vladimir Guerrero – Vlad went 2 for 4, 1 HR, 3 RBI, and 1 run scored. This game alone enhanced his batting average to .347.

Disappointment – Garret Anderson – GA went 0 for 3 with a strikeout.

Next game: April 24th, Monday vs. Detroit Tigers

On the mound: Ervin Santana (1-0, 3.93 ERA) vs. Kenny Rogers (3-1, 3.38 ERA)

Angels record: 10-9
