Game Recap #12. Angels 9, Baltimore 3

Angels slugger Vladimir Guerrero broke his dry spell, by hitting his second and third homeruns of the season. Vlad hadn’t hit a homerun since opening day against Jamie Moyer and the Seattle Mariners.

John Lackey pitched outstanding. He struck out five batters in eight innings, allowing only two runs. Lackey leads the team in wins with two and innings pitched with nineteen. Ervin Santana and Lackey have been the Angels most impressive pitchers this season.

Vladimir Guerrero and Chone Figgins led the way for the Angels offense. The pair combined for five hits, three of the five hits were homeruns, and six runs batted in. Guerrero leads the team in batting average, hits, and homeruns.

Even with a dominating performance by the Angels, there is still some bad news. Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez came in to pitch the 9th inning but left the game after giving up a walk and two hits. K-Rod didn’t leave the game because of his performance though; it was because of a cramp in his hamstring.

The Angels will play the Orioles Monday to finish off the four game series. The road trip continues, as the Angels will head to Minnesota to face Joe Mauer and the Twins.

Player of the game: Vladimir Guerrero – 3 for 5, 2 HR and 3 RBI. He also stole his second base of the season.

Disappointment – Casey Kotchman – The young first baseman went 0 for 3 dropping his batting average down to a terrible .182.

Next game: April 17th, Monday vs. Baltimore Orioles

On the mound: Jeff Weaver (0-1, 6.57 ERA) vs. Daniel Cabrera (0-1, 11.37ERA)

Angels record: 6-6
