Game Recap #9. Angels 3, Rangers 11

Finally, the game is over. It's not fun watching your favorite team get crushed, especially after winning two games in a row. The Angels were looking so good this series against the Rangers, but just couldn't keep it up for the three games. The good news, the Halos still won the series.

Kelvim Escobar made his second start of the season against the Texas Rangers. He pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving four earned runs. He had a tough 4th inning that started off with a solo homerun by Mark Teixeira. In the inning, four runners would come in to score, putting the halo's offense in catch-up mode from then on.

John Koronka took the mound for the Texas Rangers and shut the Angels offense down. However, he did have an advantage as not a single Angel hitter had faced him before. He struck out five batters in six innings, helping him pick up his first win of the season.

The Angels are now done with their homestand and will hit the road. They'll be traveling to Baltimore, Minnesota, and Oakland to play 10 games in 10 days. After the 10 game road trip, the following day the Angels will take on the Detroit Tigers at home which will make it 13 games in 13 days. Ouch.

Good News: Angels are still first place, but tied with the Oakland Athletics.

Player of the game: Robb Quinlan ? Quinlan filled in for first baseman Casey Kotchman. He went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a RBI.

Disappointment ? Jeff Mathis ? Mathis went 0 for 4, leaving a grand total of six runners on base.

Next game: April 14th, Friday vs. Baltimore Orioles

On the mound: Ervin Santana (1-0, 1.59 ERA) vs. Bruce Chen (0-1,3.60 ERA)

Angels record: 5-4
