Game Recap #8. Angels 5, Rangers 4

What an exciting finish! The Angels were down one run in the bottom of the 9th inning facing the Texas Rangers closer, Francisco Cordero. With two men on base, Adam Kennedy goes clutch driving a first pitch fastball down the right field line, plating both runs. The Angels take game two of the three game against the division rivals, the Texas Rangers.

Even though it was a great finish, it certainly didn?t start off that well. Jeff Weaver took the mound for the Angels gave up four runs in six innings. Hank Blalock took Weaver deep twice driving in three of the Rangers four runs. Weaver ended up getting the no decision, but really needs to thank Adam Kennedy since he saved him of a loss. In fact, that?s what Kennedy needs to be awarded, a save. Even though he isn?t a pitcher, he sure saved the day for Weaver and the Angels.

I hate to be repetitive, but the Angels bullpen was remarkable again. Brendan Donnelly pitched a scoreless seventh and eight innings while J.C. Romero tossed a shutout 9th, picking up his first win as an Angel.

The Halos offense was clutch, specifically Adam Kennedy. It?s great to get a win, but this stress the offense causes is really painful. They wait till the bottom of the 9th inning to get big hits. It?s a pretty much boring game, up until the ninth inning of a ball game.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will send Kelvim Escobar on the mound for the series finale.

Good news: With both the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners losing, and the Angels win, the Halos now sit in first place in the American League West.

Player of the game: Adam Kennedy ? AK delivered the game winning rbi?s as the Angels win game two and the series against the Texas Rangers. Kennedy went 2 for 4 with one RBI.

Disappointment ? Juan Rivera ? Rivera went 0 for 4 as the starting DH for the Halos tonight. Not the production you want out of the designated hitter?s spot.

Next game: April 12th, Wednesday vs. Texas Rangers

On the mound: Kelvim Escobar (1-0, 1.50 ERA) vs. John Koronka (0-1, 7.20 ERA)

Angels record: 5-3
