Game Recap #5. Angels 3, Yankees 2

Adam Kennedy hit a clutch triple driving in two runs in the bottom of the 5th inning breaking a 1-1 tie. With this win, the Angels take the series and will look to sweep the Yankees in tomorrow?s finale.

The Angels pitching has been the key to these two victories against the Yankees. Getting two consecutive quality starts from Kelvim Escobar yesterday and Ervin Santana today, gave the Angels a good chance to beat the Yankees. The entire pitching staff, both starting and relief, have done really well holding the Yanks to only three runs.

Ervin Santana pitched 5.2 innings allowing only one run on two hits. He gave up a solo homerun to Derek Jeter in the top of the 1st inning but since than pitched solid. J.C. Romero came through big time relieving Santana. He struck out Kelly Stinnett to get Santana out of a bases loaded jam. Romero would than pitch the following inning not allowing a hit or a run. Scot Shields pitched a shutout 8th inning and Francisco Rodriguez would come in the 9th inning to notch his third save in his third appearance.

Orlando Cabrera got a hit in the first inning and promptly stole second base, his second steal of the season. Vladimir Guerrero would hit a single to center to tie the ball game up at one.

The Angels didn?t score a run until the bottom of the 5th inning. Adam Kennedy delivered a clutch two out triple driving in Juan Rivera and Robb Quinlan.

Three runs were enough for the Halos pitching staff as the Angels collected their third win of the season.

Player of the game: Adam Kennedy ? AK delivered a clutch two out triple driving in the go ahead runs. He would finish 1 for 3 on the day.

Disappointment ? Jose Molina ? Jose went 0 for 3, with three strikeouts. He was facing Randy Johnson, so I?ll give him that.

Next game: April 9th, Sunday vs. New York Yankees

On the mound: Bartolo Colon (0-0, 5.40 ERA) vs. Mike Mussina (0-0, 3.86 ERA)

Angels record: 3-2
