Jay Jackson - RHP

Jay Jackson Scouting Report

- Jay Jackson was a 90th round pick by the Cubs in the 2008 draft out of Furman, where he occasionally started and was an everyday corner outfielder.

- Jackson was born on October 27th, 1987 and was raised in South Carolina. He was an excellent basketball player in high school.

- Jackson features a low 90's fastball that occasionally hits 94 or 95 and an excellent slider, currently his best pitch. He also has a fairly effective curve offering.

- He pitched 50 innings during the 2008 season, making stops in Boise, Peoria and Daytona. He struck out an incredibly impressive 72 batters in those 50 innings while walking just 13. His best stuff was in high-A Dayton when he had a 1.59 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 17 innings (three starts).

- Jackson had a SWHIP of -0.340 in 2008, which is beyond excellent.

- Jackson is a very good athlete, who stands 6'1", 185 lbs.

- He played in the 2008 Cape Cod league as a member of the Hyannis Mets.
