Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners and Yu Darvish of the Texas Rangers are featured in Wednesday's matchup. Voting will extend through June 30.

Hernandez, who just turned 28 in April, already has 118 victories on his Major League resume. The 2010 American League Cy Young winner has a career 3.15 ERA, 1.191 WHIP and average of 8.5 strikeouts per nine innings.

He only pitches every fifth day, but ranks 25th among active players with 41.6 WAR. Tim Hudson, Mark Buehrle, CC Sabathia, Cliff Lee, Bartolo Colon and Justin Verlander are the only hurlers ahead of him on that list. Hernandez is at least three years younger than all six of those pitchers. Colon and Hudson both have a decade or more on him.

It helps that Hernandez has been remarkably durable for the Mariners, making at least 30 starts in each of his eight full Major League seasons.

Before there was Masahiro Tanaka, there was Yu Darvish. He signed with the Rangers, leaving the Nippon Ham Fighters, for $60 million over six years prior to the 2012 season and was immediately effective. Twelve starts into his third Major League season, the right-hander is 36-20 with a 3.13 ERA, 1.164 WHIP and 599 strikeouts in 73 appearances (486.1 innings).

Darvish, an All-Star in both his full seasons, led baseball with an average of 11.9 strikeouts per nine innings in 2013. He ranked tenth among American League pitchers in WAR (3.9) in his rookie season and moved up to fifth (5.8 WAR) last year. As he continues to get comfortable in the United States, Darvish has seen his ERA decrease each season from 3.90 to 2.83 to 2.11 over 84.1 innings in 2014.
