Nationals Sign Francisco Rodriguez To Minors Deal

The Washington Nationals have agreed to a Minor League deal with Francisco Rodriguez, according to multiple reports.

The Detroit Tigers released Rodriguez last week.

Rodriguez saved 44 games for the Tigers last season, but struggled with a 7.82 ERA in 25 1/3 innings this year.

The Nationals' bullpen has the third-west ERA (4.88) in the National League.

Twins, Dillon Gee Agree To Minors Deal

The Minnesota Twins have agreed to a Minor League deal with Dillon Gee.

Gee, 31, opted for free agency when he was outrighted by the Texas Rangers over the weekend. He had a 4.15 ERA in 13 Major League innings for Texas this season, while pitching to a 3.88 ERA in 51 innings at Triple-A Round Rock.

Twins Sign First Overall Draft Pick

The Minnesota Twins have signed shortstop Royce Lewis, giving the first overall pick in the amateur draft this week a $6,725,000 bonus, the most for a high school player since the new compensation system began five years ago.

Lewis put his signature on the contract Saturday during a news conference at Target Field held between games of a doubleheader. He will start his professional career with Minnesota's rookie-level Gulf Coast League affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida.

Braves Agree To $7M Signing Bonus With Kyle Wright

Pitcher Kyle Wright and the Atlanta Braves agreed to a minor league contract with a $7 million signing bonus, the highest in baseball since 2011.

A 21-year-old right-hander who pitched for Vanderbilt, Wright grew up a Braves fan in Huntsville, Alabama. As a freshman, he played alongside current Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft.

"He's big brother to me," Wright said Friday. "To see him was really cool. It brings back fun memories. I'm excited about it."

Angels Sign First-Round Pick Jordon Adell

The Los Angeles Angels signed first-round pick Jordon Adell after he passed a physical on Thursday.

According to Baseball America, the outfielder received a $4,376,800 signing bonus.

"To me it was a no-brainer," Adell said. "I'm in a situation where I felt like I was the guy. This organization believes in me."

The Angels selected Adell out of Ballard High School in Louisville with the 10th overall pick in Monday's Draft.

"I just want to soak up all the information I can, and get the at-bats that I need and the reps that I need," he said. "When I'm ready, that time will come."

Astros, Elian Rodriguez Agree To Minor-League Deal, $1.9M Bonus

The Astros have agreed to a minor league contract with 20-year-old Cuban right-hander Elian Rodriguez that includes a $1.9 million signing bonus.

The deal was announced Thursday, the last day of the 2016-17 signing period. The deal raises Houston's international signing bonus total to $10,757,500, well above its $2,197,000 signing bonus pool, and the Astros will incur a tax of $8,560,500.

Reds To Sign Cuban Shortstop Jose Israel Garcia

The Cincinnati Reds have agreed to sign Cuban shortstop Jose Israel Garcia.

Garcia, who is subject to international bonus pools due to both his age and lack of professional experience, will receive a bonus of roughly $5 million on his Minor League deal.

Cincinnati has already exceeded their league-allotted international signing pool, they'll pay a 100 percent luxury tax on the signing.

Mariners, Jean Segura Agree To $70M Extension

The Seattle Mariners have agreed to a five-year, $70 million contract extension with Jean Segura, according to multiple reports.

The deal is also believed to include a $17 million option for 2023.

The Mariners acquired Segura from the Arizona Diamondbacks in November. He currently leads the American League with a .341 batting average from the leadoff spot.
