Aug 5, 2014 8:33 AM

The Washington Nationals have activated Bryce Harper from the disabled list, shuffling the rest of their lineup in the process.

Washington will go back to their Opening Day lineup with Ryan Zimmerman moving back to third base. Anthony Rendon slides to second and Danny Espinosa to the bench.

Zimmerman started 25 of 26 games in left field after coming back from a fractured right thumb on June 3, but is shifting back to third base on Monday for the first time since April 12.

Keuchel Throws, Hopes To Make Next Start

Sep 25, 2014 3:49 PM

Dallas Keuchel, who has been wearing a removable cast to immobilize his hand, took it off and threw on Sunday.

Keuchel missed his scheduled start on Saturday with inflammation in his throwing hand.

"The swelling has gone done, and the training staff is good with how it's progressed, so if they're comfortable, I'm comfortable," the left-hander said.

Depending on how the hand feels when Keuchel wakes up Monday and beyond, he could only miss the one start.

Nationals Expected To Activate Bryce Harper

Sep 25, 2014 3:30 PM

The Washington Nationals are expected to activate Bryce Harper from the disabled list before Monday night's game against the Colorado Rockies, according to sources.

Harper will be in the lineup and playing left field. The Nationals haven't made a formal announcement.

He hasn't played a Major League game since April 25, when he tore an ulnar collateral ligament in the left thumb while sliding headfirst into third base against the San Diego Padres.

Harper played five Minor League games this past week and went a combined 9-for-14 [.643] with four home runs and 10 RBIs for Class A Potomac and Double-A Harrisburg.

Jake Peavy Tunes Out Trade Rumors

Sep 18, 2014 6:05 AM

Jake Peavy is a trade candidate for the Boston Red Sox as the deadline nears.

Peavy, who will be a free agent this coming winter, is 1-6 with a 4.93 ERA this season.

"I have a great relationship with my pitching coach (Juan Nieves), my manager (John Farrell) and my general manager (Ben Cherington)," Peavy said.

"We're all very open with each other. I don't need any clarity on any situation involving anything. At the end of the day, you do what you're told, work as hard as you can work, get better at your craft. That's the way I approach each day and will continue to do that. If you start worrying about stuff like that, your focus is off where it needs to be and it's going to affect things."

Headley Doesn't Think He Needs Change Of Scenery

Oct 23, 2014 10:54 PM

Chase Headley has been mentioned in trade rumors for a few years and will be once again as the July 31 non-waiver deadline approaches.

The Toronto Blue Jays are one team giving Headley consideration.

Headley, who has had a number of injuries, doesn't think a trade will cure what has ailed him.

"Even when things are going full-on crappy, like now, I'm confident that sometime in the near future, I'm going to get healthy, stay healthy and start playing the way I know I'm capable of," he said. "Whether that's here or somewhere else, who knows? I don't think a change of scenery is going to bring that about ...

"I don't look at it like, 'Man, I gotta get out of here to be me again.' I'm going to be me again, whether it's here or somewhere else. If I'm me, that's good. Playing the way I can play, I know that's valuable."

Carlos Gomez OK After Collision With Braun

Sep 18, 2014 7:10 AM

Carlos Gomez says his neck is OK after he had to leave Saturday night's game against the Colorado Rockies following a collision in the outfield with Ryan Braun.

Gomez suffered a neck strain. He was scared initially after feeling a tingling sensation throughout his body. He had a headache and sore neck, but passed a concussion test.

He was not in the starting lineup for the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.

Gomez also hurt his head Friday night after sliding headfirst into second and glancing off second baseman Josh Rutledge's leg.

"We have extra players, so we decided to have a day after I [got] hit twice in the head," Gomez said. "Everything is fine. The neck is OK."
