Adam Eaton has been placed on the disabled list by the Washington Nationals with a left knee strain.

Eaton suffered the injury in the 9th inning of Friday's loss.

Trea Turner Falls Triple Shy Of Second Consecutive Cycle

Apr 27, 2017 9:43 AM

Trea Turner finished a triple shy of the cycle on Wednesday, a day after he reached the accomplishment for the Washington Nationals.

"He's going to have a lot of cycles in his career. That's just who he is and type of player he is," Bryce Harper said. "He has a good chance to do that on any given night. If he played here, he'd probably do it a lot more."

Turner, 23, is hitting .326/.341/.628 in 11 games.

Nationals To Place Strasburg On Paternity Leave

Apr 24, 2017 8:07 AM

Stephen Strasburg will not take his regular turn in the Nationals' rotation this week as he awaits the birth of his second child.

The Nationals plan to put Strasburg on the paternity list Monday, when they open a four-game series in Colorado. The team has not announced a scheduled starter for that game.

Strasburg's next turn comes up Tuesday, but Washington bumped back Joe Ross a day into that slot. The team said Sunday that Strasburg could pitch next weekend at home against the Mets.

Nationals 'Aggressively' Pursued Bullpen Help This Offseason

Apr 21, 2017 6:56 PM

The Washington Nationals are dealing with bullpen issues, but they made an attempt to proactively fix the issues this past offseason.

Washington pursued Kenley Jansen and Mark Melancon in free agency and David Robertson via trade "very aggressively," according to one team official.

The Nationals didn't finalize any deals because the asking prices "got beyond the threshold of our tolerance."

Nationals To Use Shawn Kelley, Koda Glover In Closer Time Share

Apr 20, 2017 7:36 AM

The Washington Nationals will no longer use Blake Treinen as their closer, opting for a ninth-inning time share between Shawn Kelley and Koda Glover.

Treinen has allowed five runs while striking out seven and walking six batters in 6 1/3 innings this season.

The Nationals defeated the Atlanta Braves 14-4 on Wednesday night so there was no save chance.

Nationals Re-Sign Joe Nathan To Minor League Deal

Apr 10, 2017 8:14 AM

The Washington Nationals are re-signing Joe Nathan to a Minor League deal.

Nathan opted out of his previous Minor League deal with the Nationals on March 27, but he was unable to land a Major League deal elsewhere.

Nathan, 42, threw just 6 2/3 Major League innings over the previous two seasons, largely because he underwent his second Tommy John procedure while with the Detroit Tigers in April 2015.

Phillies Score Franchise-Record 12 First-Inning Runs

Apr 9, 2017 1:43 PM

The Phillies scored a franchise-record 12 runs in the first in a 17-3 victory over the Nationals on Saturday night, the most runs they have scored in a game since they posted 22 on the Reds on July 6, 2009.

The Phillies began the inning having scored just 14 runs in four games, but a combination of nine hits (including three doubles and one triple), four walks and two sacrifice flies put them within a run of the franchise record for most runs in an inning overall.
