Jarrod Parker Has 'No Doubt' He'll Return From Third Tommy John

Mar 22, 2016 7:38 AM

Jarrod Parker said Monday that he has "no doubt" he will try to pitch again with a third Tommy John surgery looming.

"I think to have the chance is all I have," said Parker, who refractured the medial epicondyle in his right elbow this month. "Luckily, modern medicine is what it is."

Since Parker has already had two Tommy John surgeries, the question will be whether there is an adequate area to anchor a new ligament or even the existing one. If there is not, it is unclear whether a UCL repair will be possible.

He is scheduled for the surgery on April 1 in Los Angeles.

"You always realize it could be worse," Parker said. "It's still a game. I'm a grown man playing a kid's game and I have a chance to do that. There's always a lot worse that can happen, whether it's in the game or outside of baseball."
