Cory Rasmus Preparing To Start For Angels

Nov 5, 2014 12:31 PM

Cory Rasmus, who began the season as a reliever, made five starts for the Los Angeles Angels in September.

He now realizes the differences between being a relief pitcher and a rotation member.

"Out of the bullpen for the past four years, it's totally been one hitter at a time," Rasmus said. "Where as a starter, you have to think that same way, but at the same time, you have to say, 'What can I do the first time through the order?' and then change it up the second time through the order."

The Angels will look to add depth to their rotation for 2015, which means Rasmus could be fully converted into a starter.

Beginning on Aug. 30, Rasmus made six starts, posting a 2.37 ERA and 0.84 WHIP. He progressed to throwing about four innings and 60 pitches by the end of the season.

"I feel I pitched pretty well and I'm sure we'll have some talks in the offseason," Rasmus said. "We'll get that taken care of. We have three months, four months until we have to be back. We'll get everything settled and we'll figure it out before Spring Training comes around."

Josh Hamilton Ready For Postseason

Oct 23, 2014 4:59 PM

Josh Hamilton says he's feeling better and is ready for the playoffs later this week.

Hamilton missed 21 of the Los Angeles Angels' last 22 games because of shoulder and other upper-body injuries.

He worked out Tuesday, and said he's set for Thursday when the Angels host the Kansas City Royals in the opener of the AL Division Series.

"I feel good, just like yesterday. I ran, threw, faced a lot of pitching, so I'm good to go," Hamilton said.

"There's always pain, but the point is that I'm not having muscle spasms. It's been responding well every day. I didn't have any spasms after I finished, so I'll see how it responds tomorrow," he added.
