Rockies Request Waivers On Jose Reyes To Release Him

Jun 24, 2016 8:44 AM

The Colorado Rockies have requested waivers on Jose Reyes for the purpose of granting his unconditional release.

If he goes unclaimed, Reyes will be a free agent by midday Saturday.

Reyes did not participate in spring training and was suspended through May 31 after being charged with domestic violence for an altercation with his wife in Hawaii last October.

Rockies Designate Jose Reyes For Assignment

Jun 15, 2016 3:30 PM

The Colorado Rockies have designated Jose Reyes for assignment.

"At the end of the day we felt that it was best that we part ways; best for the direction of the organization, best for what was going on in the clubhouse and best for Jose," Jeff Bridich said.

The Rockies reinstated Reyes from the restricted list before making the move. He had been on the list since being suspended under the league's domestic violence policy.

Colorado now has 10 days to either trade him, release him or have him accept a demotion to the minors.

Rockies' Arenado: 'Losing Is Getting Old'

Jun 5, 2016 10:42 PM

As soon as the first inning ended, Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado came into the dugout and began yelling in frustration.

The Rockies had been shut down by former teammate Drew Pomeranz in the top of the inning and gave up Matt Kemp's three-run home run in the bottom.

"Just frustration got the best of me," Arenado said after the Rockies lost 4-0 Friday night, their third straight defeat and sixth loss in seven games. "If I was going to do that I probably should have done that in the tunnel. I got frustrated, I let it out. The boys know I love them. I wasn't yelling directly at anyone. Just losing is getting old."

Said manager Walt Weiss: "He was frustrated. He cares. He wasn't directing it at anybody. He was just kind of pacing in the dugout. Not a big deal. He was just frustrated. You let him have his say and then move on."
