Rockies Pull Michael Cuddyer Off Waivers

Sep 25, 2014 3:53 PM

The Colorado Rockies placed Michael Cuddyer on revocable waivers on Sunday, but pulled him back when he experienced hamstring discomfort this week.

It's unclear whether the Rockies would have traded Cuddyer, but now they are unlikely to do so before his three-year, $31.5 million contract expires at the end of the season.

Cuddyer Becomes Third Player To Hit For Cycle In Both Leagues

Oct 8, 2014 2:47 PM

Michael Cuddyer hit for the cycle on Sunday, becoming the first player to do so in the Major Leagues this season.

Cuddyer also became just the third player in history to accomplish cycles in both leagues. Bob Watson did it with the Astros (1977) and Red Sox (1979), and John Olerud with the Mets (1997) and Mariners (2001).

"That's what hitting is: It's assessing the situation and trying to execute to get that job done," Cuddyer said. "You can't just go up at the Major League level and blindly just swing the bat. You've got to be able to assess what the situation is and do your best to execute that job."

Reds-Rockies Postponed Because Of Water Main Break

Sep 10, 2014 1:50 PM

Saturday night's game between the Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies was postponed because of a water main break just steps from the primary entrance to the ballpark.

It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Sunday. The first game will start at 4:10 p.m. EDT and the second at 9:10 p.m.

The Rockies originally said the game would be delayed 30 minutes.

Restrooms inside Coors Field were not working and there were only limited concessions as the water was turned off to the stadium.

About 45 minutes after the scheduled first pitch, the Denver Office of Emergency Management requested the game be postponed.

Tulowitzki: 'Sick And Tired Of Losing'

Sep 10, 2014 2:35 PM

After three straight wins, the Rockies fell back into a funk with their shortstop Troy Tulowitzki recovering, dropping nine of 10 to secure their place in the NL West cellar. Tulowitzki, who has begun taking batting practice as he rounds back into form for his return, said Wednesday he is fed up with the losing, according to a report in The Denver Post.

"I think that's why I came out numerous times and said I want to win," said Tulowitzki, who holds a large lead in the NL batting race with a .340 average. "It doesn't mean I want out of here. It means I'm sick and tired of losing."
