The OPSERA is a statistic RealGM Executive Editor Chris Reina created in order to objectively rank teams by how well they hit (OPS) and pitch (ERA).

In order to determine the OPSERA rating for each, we take their OPS, multiply that number by 10 to move the decimal point over one place to the right and then subtract their ERA from that number.

All Statistics are through Sunday, August, 16th.

1. St. Louis – 4.51
The Cardinals look to be on top of the rankings and the National League Central for the rest of the season. They have a tough week, but has anything been tough enough for them this year?

2. Los Angeles Dodgers – 4.41
Despite issues in the bullpen, the Dodgers continue to lead the NL West. With trips to Oakland and Houston this week, the boys in blue will be tested from teams outside of their regular scouting network.

3. Pittsburgh – 3.97
The Pirates are hot right now after sweeping the Mets over the weekend. Look for them to be tested by both the Diamondbacks and the Giants.

4. Houston – 3.87
The Astros have enjoyed a huge turn around this season and have been in-and-out of the top five. It's a mixed week for them. They should handle the Rays before an interesting weekend with the Dodgers.

5. Kansas City – 3.74
The Royals have been great all season long and have kept the Twins and Tigers in the rearview mirror. They should have an easy week against poor teams in the Reds and Red Sox.
